Funding opportunities

Before starting an academic study program, it’s important to consider how to finance your studies. While working part-time as a student assistant at the university or in a company is always an option, there are many other funding opportunities available. Here, we highlight a few of them.

Master Fellowship

The Cologne Graduate School of Ageing Research (CGA) offers a Master Fellowship Programme. This fellowship is available for outstanding applicants and first-term students of the Master programs Computational Biology, Genetics and Biology of Aging and Regeneration, Neuroscience or Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine at the University of Cologne.

Master Fellowship holders will be financially supported with €934/month for the duration of their studies (maximum 1.5 years). They will also choose a Principal Investigator from our internationally renowned faculty as a mentor including advisory meetings, engagement in the social and scientific activities of the research group. Fellowship holders will be provided with an employment contract for their Master thesis project in the research group of their mentor.

Please note: The application to the Master programs (via KLIPS) and the application for the Master fellowship (via CGA website) are two independent steps. Both application deadlines end on July, 15th each year.

Travel Grant

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences offers funding for 1-4 months for outgoing students.

The University of Cologne also provides general information on other funding options on the University webpage.
